Commonwealth Games Federation president Michael Fennell has confirmed that all 71 nations will compete in Delhi, but warned that there is still "a lot of work" to be done.

Fennell inspected the athletes' village on Friday before meeting with Indian government officials following complaints that the accommodation was "unsafe and unfit for human habitation".

Fears that countries would boycott the event over security concerns were raised when a footbridge near the main stadium collapsed on Tuesday, and on Wednesday part of the ceiling at the weightlifting area fell in. But after a flurry of activity in recent days, Fennell is confident the Games, which begin on October 3, will go ahead as planned, although he admitted there is a lot of work still to be done.

"I am very happy we are recording today that there will be full participation in the Games," said Fennell. "There's still a lot of work to be done, to do the final touches, and there's more work in the village. It's not over yet

"The work that is being done now ought to have been done before, but we are concentrating on how to get things done so athletes can enjoy the best possible conditions when competing at the Commonwealth Games. We are very concerned that the effort and momentum of the work will continue and not just until the teams arrive, but throughout the Games."
