British snowboarder Ben Kilner has won a bronze medal in the World Cup half-pipe in Calgary.

The 21-year-old enjoyed an ideal warm-up for the Winter Olympics to finish on the podium for the first time, finishing behind France's Arthur Longo and Canadian Justin Lemourex, although a number of big names were absent from the event.

Kilner's 600 points sees him move from 99th up to 43rd in the world halfpipe standings ahead of his first Olympic Games.

"This has put me in a very good frame of mind for going in to Vancouver," he said. "It has been my best result so far in my snowboarding career."
