James DeGale confirmed that he and George Groves will fight "sooner rather than later", before warning his potential opponent to expect a knockout.

David Haye's promotional company has offered the Olympic gold medallist's representatives £50,000 to try and ensure the Groves contest takes place on the undercard of Haye's fight against John Ruiz in April.

"The silly little ginger kid, well, what I say is go and speak to my promoter as I'll box anyone Frank Warren puts in front of me," DeGale told the Sun.

"I'd like to fight Groves and stick him 10 spaces back in his career, if he really wants that, because he'd get knocked out. So speak to my promoter and we'll get it on - sooner rather than later. I'd love to knock the ugly ginger kid out!"

DeGale was beaten by Groves at amateur level as the 21-year-old captured the 2006 ABA title, an outcome the Londoner insists was not deserved.

"Robbed, robbed, robbed, he robbed me. It was a close competitive fight but I should have won," he said.

"But that was in the amateur days and we're pros now. I'm coming on leaps and bounds and it'll be my pleasure to get in the ring with him and knock him out."
