Australia's National Rugby Championship (NRC) will feature the same law variations used in its inaugural season as the competition prepares to enter its second year next Thursday.

Brisbane City will host Perth Spirit at Ballymore in the season opener in a rematch of last year's grand final with Wallabies Scott Higginbotham and Liam Gill two of the big drawcards in the home side's squad.

Meanwhile, the competition has received a boost in the form of greater broadcast hours with the Australian Rugby Union's Pay TV partner Fox Sports to live stream the 27 regular-season games outside of their existing Thursday night time-slot. Those same matches will also be available through Apple TV.

"The NRC is a fantastic chance for Australian Rugby fans to watch both current superstars and future stars of the game on their own doorstep," ARU General Manager Rob Clarke said. "The TVC reflects both the hard work these players put in off the pitch while also the fun that can had at an NRC game.

"We're all excited at the prospect of the 2015 NRC being unleashed to a bigger audience than last year."
