Harlequins have bolstered their wing resources for next season with the signing of Scotland winger Tim Visser.

Visser, 27, joins from Edinburgh and will step into Ugo Monye's shoes after the winger announced his retirement from the sport last week. Visser boasts 18caps for Scotland and has scored five tries in that spell.

"My career at Edinburgh has been great. I came up from Newcastle as a youngster - the opportunity came through then coach Rob Moffat - and I've learnt so much working with a number of coaches since then," Visser said. "I've given so much of my career to Edinburgh and Edinburgh has provided so much in return - the opportunity to play for Scotland would never have come about, for a start - and it's been a difficult decision to move on."

He will journey to Quins at the end of the season and director of rugby Conor O'Shea is looking forward to welcoming the winger.

"We are delighted to welcome Tim to the club," O'Shea said. "He is and always has been a finisher and with the margins between winning and losing so small, players like Tim can be the difference. He is a great man, who is really driven to succeed.

"We are looking forward to welcoming him to Harlequins next season."
