Davies to make debut
Bristol
August 17, 2000

Welsh international Leigh Davies will make his league debut for Bristol in Sunday's Premiership clash at newly-promoted Rotherham.

The former Cardiff centre teams up with Argentinian Eduardo Simone in midfield, with Simone's fellow Puma, scrum-half Agustin Pichot, captaining the team.

Two of Bristol's other summer signings England internationals Neil McCarthy and Ben Sturnham, have to content themselves with seats on the replacements' bench.

Welshman Gareth Bowen is given the daunting task of starting the campaign as Henry Honiball's fly-half replacement, earning the vote ahead of Steven Vile.

Bristol go into the game without suspended England lock Garath Archer, who is serving a one-match ban after collecting three yellow cards last season, so player/coach Dean Ryan and Andrew Sheridan form the second row unit.
