Profile

The Arena Manawatu is the name of the 18 hectare, publicly-owned sporting complex which houses the FMG Stadium.

The home of Manawatu, the arena has a long and proud history. It was originally called the Palmerton North Showgrounds and was used during World War II to train troops. However, it has since staged all manor of sports across its 33 individual indoor and outdoor venues and is famous as the venue for the first Super 12 rugby match, the Hurricanes' clash with the Blues in 1996.

Located just seven minutes away from the city centre on foot, the ground, which was redeveloped in 2005, will boast a capacity of 15,000 for its two World Cup fixtures: Georgia against Romania and Georgia against Argentina.
