Australia snapped a dismal losing streak against the All Blacks last weekend and England will be intent on following suit at Twickenham this weekend.

England have come off second best in their last eight meetings with New Zealand, with their last win over the Kiwis having come all the way back in June 2003 in Wellington when Jonny Wilkinson booted the visitors to a 15-13 victory.

Since then, it has been nothing but misery for England. Indeed, the closest they have gotten to the All Blacks since was in 2005 when they managed to lose by just four points, 23-19 at Twickenham. The other seven meetings between the two sides have all been won quite convincingly by the New Zealanders.

The All Blacks' dominance of the fixture coincided with the emergence of Dan Carter, who has accumulated a record-breaking 151 points in his eight outings against the English. In half of those games he has managed to score over 20 points, with the highlight being his historic 26-point haul in a 41-20 triumph at Twickenham in 2006.

The message for England is obvious: to have any hope of stopping New Zealand, they must stop Carter. That will prove easier said than done, of course, but the hosts will take encouragement from their performance against the All Blacks last year, when they reached the interval level at six points apiece before unfortunately fading in the second half and eventually coming out on the wrong end of a 19-6 scoreline.
