Leicester Tigers have confirmed that veteran scrum-half Jason Spice has signed a short-term contract with the club.

With Sam Harrison currently out of action, the reigning Premiership champions are short on cover for first-choice No.9 Ben Youngs so head coach Richard Cockerill has turned to Spice, who has been lining out for Launceston since parting company at the end of last season.

"Jason has initially come for four or five weeks," Cockerill told BBC Radio Leicester. "He is an experienced player and won't get phased by coming in and playing in big games if we need him to."
