Bay of Plenty have announced the signing of Highlanders prop Bronson Murray on a two-year contract.

The 28-year-old tight-head, who is also comfortable at loose-head, makes the move from Northland, for whom he was capped 96 times. He also has seven appearances for the New Zealand Maori to his name and Steamers head coach Sean Horan believes Murray's experience will prove invaluable.

"The Steamers' signing of Bronson Murray brings a robust and extremely mobile front row player, to our ITM Cup campaign for the next two years," he said. "He is another that has a wealth of Super and NPC rugby, and we intend to utilize Bronson to mentor a number of our young front-rowers.

"While a number young props such as Pingi Talaapitanga, Cory Marsters and Wade Pereiera have been taking centre stage in Baywide Premier club rugby this season, Bronson will play a big role in assisting to develop the promising young talent."
