All Blacks centre Isaia Toeava has completed a two-year deal which will see him swap the Blues for the Canon Eagles in Japan.
The utility back, who has 38 caps for the All Blacks, was courting interest from England and France but he has followed in the footsteps of the likes of Ma'a Nonu in agreeing to a stint in Japan. Toeava has been sidelined recently due to surgery on his hip but he will hope to play some part in the remainder of the Blues' season in Super Rugby.
Following the completion of the current campaign, Toeava will journey to his new club and he is relishing the chance to try his hand at a new brand of rugby.
"I want to thank the people who have helped me along the way in my rugby career," Toeava said."From school days through to now, I am very grateful for the opportunities I have been given at Auckland Rugby, the Blues and the All Blacks and the people who showed faith in me.
"But now I am ready for a new adventure and even though it's hard to leave behind friends and family, I am excited about the chance to experience a different culture playing rugby in a new country."
