Australia coach Robbie Deans has dismissed concerns about his side's lack of tries this year.

The Wallabies failed to cross the whitewash in their 18-all draw with New Zealand last weekend - the third time this season that they have not scored a try. In total, Deans' side have scored just 12 tries in their 11 Test outings this year while in contrast the All Blacks have celebrated 33 tries in 10 games.

However, Deans remains bullish ahead of the Wallabies' four-Test end of year tour that will begins against France in Paris on November 10. "'Obviously you like to score tries but ultimately you like to win,'' Deans told AAP. ''I think people get hung up with tries being scored and not scored. What you want to see is expansive and ambitious play and there was ample of … both of those elements last week.''

All Blacks coach Steve Hansen labelled his side's draw with the Wallabies in Brisbane as the ugliest game he had been involved in with a high error count hampering the game as a spectacle but Deans disagreed with his Kiwi rival.

"I don't think so. That was a great spectacle last week,'' Deans said. ''If you look at it from a written-word perspective, there were six penalties a side, it was a great contest. They deny you access to the tryline but the good thing was we were able to deny them access as well and that's the nature of international rugby now.''
