Chiefs half-back Tawera Kerr-Barlow will miss six weeks of rugby after breaking his jaw in the 19-7 Super Rugby defeat of the Highlanders at Waikato Stadium on Friday.

Kerr-Barlow, who made his All Blacks debut last year, was found to have broken the right side of his jaw while playing the full 80 minutes in Hamilton. He will undergo surgery in the coming week.

Australian-born Kerr-Barlow, 22, played his first two All Blacks Tests on the 2012 tour to Europe, coming off the reserve bench against Scotland and Italy.

Augustine Pulu is set to replace Kerr-Barlow, but former All Blacks No. 9 Brendon Leonard is poised to re-enter the selection frame after fracturing a cheekbone in a pre-season match.
