Trio handed "significant bans" for referee abuse

A New Zealand club's player, team official and supporter have all been suspended after they abused a referee and a match official.
The incident occurred during the Citizens Shield semi-final on July 20 when Athletic Marist Rugby Club were beaten 27-20 by Valley. North Otago Rugby Football Union chief executive Colin Jackson said the trio received "significant bans" with after they abused and swore at the match officials, according to reports in the Otago Daily Times.
Jackson said: ''The union has zero tolerance for abuse at any match official, and all three should have known better. We have dealt with it and are moving on."
The newspaper reports Athletic's team strapper and back Simi Fuluasou will be banned "from attending any New Zealand ground or stadium where a rugby match was being played from July 26 to August 16 inclusive and then from March 1 to April 26 inclusive next year".
