Ali Hepher admits Exeter Chiefs are surprised Phil Dollman's excellent start to the Aviva Premiership season has not merited an international call-up.

Versitle Dollman, who has been filling for the injured Luke Arscott at full-back but can also play at centre and on the wing, was born in Caerphilly but also qualifies to play for England. He enjoyed his best performance of the season last weekend as the Chiefs romped to a 40-6 victory over basement side Worcester Warriors at Sandy Park, scoring his first try of the season and setting up Dean Mumm with a superb break through midfield.

And Chiefs assistant coach Hepher believes both Wales and England have missed a trick by not calling up the 28-year-old ahead of November's autumn internationals.

"He is qualified to play for both England and Wales, and I don't know what they are looking for, but he is a quality player," Hepher told The Telegraph.

"He plays in a lot of positions for us, he gives us that versatility to be able to gel with people around him, and every time he plays he never lets you down. He puts in a really hard shift. He is not a guy built in the gym but a proper rugby player on the field, one that looks for space, and he is a real handful for opponents."
