Auckland rugby coach Wayne Pivac has resigned to take up a role as assistant coach at Llanelli Scarlets. Auckland Rugby Union chief executive Andy Dalton says Pivac will be replaced by Auckland's current assistant coach, Paul Feeney.
Pivac has been in charge of the Auckland team for the past two seasons, taking them to the national provincial final in 2012 and the semi-finals last year. He had previously coached the side from 1999 to 2003, winning the competition on three occasions. Dalton said he was sad to see Pivac leave.
"Wayne has been a great contributor to Auckland Rugby and has made significant improvements to our team throughout the time he's been with us," he said. "But we recognise his aspirations and understand his desire to take on this new challenge. We wish him every success in Wales."
Pivac takes up his position at Llanelli in June.
