George Moala will return to training at the Blues with immediate effect after he was found guilty of assault with intent to injure, the Super Rugby franchise has announced.

Moala faces sentencing on May 1, until which date the conditions of his bail allow him to "fulfil all obligations as a professional rugby player, including travel, and he remains available for selection".

"Given the range of potential outcomes that could result from sentencing, it is not appropriate to conclude any internal misconduct process until after 1 May," the Blues announced. "Therefore, the Blues and New Zealand Rugby will await the final outcome of sentencing before resolving what further action, if any, may be appropriate."

The Blues announced in a statement on Wednesday that the decision to allow Moala to return to work followed "detailed consultation with New Zealand Rugby, the New Zealand Rugby Players' Association, key stakeholders and Moala's legal team".

Moala and his brother Siua Moala faced court after an incident at the Desi Lounge on Auckland's Karangahape Road in 2013.
