Highlanders' prop Kane Hames has been suspended for five weeks after he was found guilty of striking an opposition player during the Highlanders' loss to the Crusaders on Saturday night. He was cited after he struck Crusaders' lock Dominic Bird in the 74th minute, and pleaded guilty to the offence.

He was found in the mid-range entry point, which stipulates a five-week suspension. He will be sidelined until round 9 when the Highlanders take on the Crusaders in Christchurch.
