Former Wallabies coach Robbie Deans is not in discussions with Leinster over their vacant head coach post.

Leinster parted company with Matt O'Connor last week after a disappointing season which saw them finish outside the play-offs. A number of names have since been linked with the vacancy with Deans one of the early favourites.

After leaving the Wallabies job in 2013, Deans took on the head coach post at Panasonic Wild Knights in Japan. This week Deans, who led the Crusaders to huge success, will take charge of the Barbarians for their two matches against Ireland and an England XV.

He is regarded as one of the game's finest brains but despite receiving approaches during his time in Japan, he is committed to seeing out his contract and revealed there have been no discussions between him and Leinster, despite being strongly linked with the post.

"It's par for the course, approaches are constant, it's the same for the players," Deans told ESPN. "Just because it's been talked about it doesn't necessarily match what's happening in reality.

"My circumstances are I have an existing contract with Panasonic in the Japanese Top League which I'm enjoying and committed to. As far as the future goes who knows but I'm not involved in any process with Leinster at the moment."
