All Blacks' haka goes viral with Shia LaBeouf

The All Blacks' haka is the most identifiable cultural image of New Zealand, a pre-match ritual recognised throughout the world. It is also therefore a popular choice for imitation, often much to the dismay of the country's patriotic citizens.

Movie star Shia LaBeouf whipped up something of a social media storm recently after footage of the Transformers star attempting the haka went viral. Kiwis at home and abroad were quick to condemn Le Boeuf's appropriation; but they may want to take another look.

The actor's bizarre 17-second effort is actually the work of a YouTube user with far too much time on his hands; Craig Fleming, a third-year multimedia student in Ireland, was but one of many creatives who sliced and diced what was originally a 30-minute green screen monologue into a series of entertaining memes.

As well as the haka, LaBeouf also gives a less-than-convincing motivational Ted Talk.

And here's the original monolgue if you haven't seen it already.
