Wycliff Palu will play for Manly in the InTrust Shute Shield semi-final against Sydney University, having been omitted from the Wallabies squad to face the All Blacks in the Rugby Championship-deciding Bledisloc Cup Test.

Palu has played just one match for the Marlins in six years, but Manly coach Damian Cummins said his inclusion was a massive boost to the side as they bid to reach the Shute Shield grand final for the first time since 1997.

"He's a big unit with plenty of go forward and tons of experience at all levels," Cummins told Sportal."It will give everyone a lift having Cliffy join the side. It's not every day one of the world's best forwards is dropped on your doorstep.

"Credit to Michael Cheika and the Wallabies for letting these blokes play club rugby. Manly Oval should be bursting at the seams given all the talent on show from both sides."
