Two jerseys worn by New Zealand Invincibles full-back George Nepia are for sale at auction in Cardiff's Rogers Jones auction house on Friday.

The sale comes just weeks after former All Blacks captain Dave Gallaher's 1905 jersey sold for £180,000 ($NZ413,745) - a record price for rugby memorabilia.

Nepia, a star of the 1924-25 All Blacks team known as The Invincibles, wore one of the jumpers, aged 19, during the 19-0 Test win over Wales at Swansea.

Nepia swapped his Test jersey with Welshman David Hiddlestone, who performed an "impromptu and ill-advised war-dance" in response to the All Blacks' haka.

Rogers Jones expects it to fetch up to £40,000 - the same estimate it put on Gallaher's jersey.

Nepia wore the other jersey in the All Blacks' 16-8 win over Cardiff. Thay jumper is expected to fetch up to £5000. Nepia played all 30 matches during The Invincibles' unbeaten 1924-1925 tour of Britain, France and Canada, and his performances drew gushing media praise.

Also up for auction is a jersey worn by winger Jim Sherratt for the New Zealand Expeditionary Force team, which toured Great Britain and France immediately after World War II. It is expected to fetch up to £3000.
