SBW moved by Lebanon visit

Sonny Bill Williams has hit the ground running on an humanitarian visit to Lebanon, the All Blacks superstar bringing some festive cheer to a Syrian refugee camp.

Williams arrived in Lebanon after supporting his future New Zealand Sevens team-mates in Dubai at the weekend, and has since wasted little time in getting to work in his role with UNICEF.

The three-sport star visited a settlement in Faida in the Bekaa Valley on Monday, playing and talking with children who have been forced to flee war-torn Syria.

Meanwhile, New Zealand Sevens coach Gordon Tietjens says his star 15s recruit isn't yet ready to start in an HSBC World Series event.

Williams has been pencilled in for the Wellington leg in late January where his inclusion could help rescue what has been an ailing event in recent times.

He could also back up the following week in Sydney, giving the Australian leg added star billing after it was revealed Quade Cooper is close to securing a release for the Allianz Stadium stop.

There was speculation Williams could be rushed into the NZ squad for this week's second leg in Cape Town after the Kiwis suffered a series of injuries in Dubai, but Tietjens instead opted for Antonio Kirikiri, Beaudein Waaka and Ambrose Curtis.
