Overseas recruits Zac Guildford and Tomas Cubelli will get their first taste of an Australian Super Rugby derby when the Waratahs face the Brumbies in Wagga Wagga on Saturday.

The Test duo were on Thursday named among experimental NSW and ACT line-ups, former All Blacks flyer Guildford starting at full-back for the Waratahs and Argentina scrum-half Cubelli slotting straight into the Brumbies' strip vacated by Nic White.

While Cubelli is likely to be a lock at No.9 for the Brumbies this season, Guildford is battling the likes of NRL convert Reece Robinson, rookie Andrew Kellaway and, potentially, Wallabies duo Kurtley Beale and Israel Folau, for a spot in the Waratahs' back three.

Waratahs coach Daryl Gibson will trial Folau at outside centre in the franchise's final trial against the Highlanders and if the experiment proves to be a success, Guildford could be a potential long-term option at full-back. Gibson has also expressed a desire to see Beale reprise the custodian role.

Elsewhere, Will Skelton is the only member of the Wallabies' Rugby World Cup squad who'll feature for the Waratahs while Sam Carter and Matt Toomua are among the Brumbies' run-on XV with Joe Tomane and Tevita Kuridrani included on an extended bench.
