Full time at Eden Park: New Zealand 48 Scotland 14
July 1, 2000

In driving rain , Scotland competed well throughout , but were eventually outscored, eight tries to two.

New Zealand scored four tries in each half, but never really gained the ascendancy over a committed Scottish side . In the first half Scotland enjoyed two thirds of the possession but still found themselves down 24-0 at half time. This was due to the New Zealanders' ability to score from anywhere on the field and to run in some long range tries.

In that first period, Umaga scored two tries and Cribb and Kronfeld one each. Mehrtens converted two. Ieremia, Robinson, Marshall and Cullen added tries in the second half, one converted by Mehrtens and one by Brown , and for Scotland Paterson and Murray scored tries, both converted by Hodge.
