Lomu and Cribb fit to face Springboks
July 17, 2000

Match-winning wing Jonah Lomu and forward powerhouse Ron Cribb will be fit for Saturday's Tri-Nations rugby match with South Africa, despite missing a team training session Monday.

Lomu had a bruised backside -- suffered in Saturday's epic win over Australia -- and was unable to ride his mountain bike to practice at the Hanmer Springs rugby ground in north Canterbury along with the rest of the All Blacks squad.

No 8 Cribb joined Lomu on the sidelines to rest a groin strain.

But All Blacks' manager Andrew Martin said the injuries were not serious.

Martin said lock Norm Maxwell also had a "bit of a bruising to a shoulder," but it was not enough to prevent the Crusader from practising.

All 26 squad members should be fit for selection for the second Tri-Nations test at Jade Stadium in Christchurch.

All Blacks selector Peter Thorburn said the players had come through Saturday's gruelling encounter against Australia in good shape.
