On arrival in Christchurch on Tuesday, Springbok coach Nick Mallett gave an honest assessment of his side's chances in Saturday's test against the All Blacks.

Speaking at Christchurch airport he said that the Springboks would have to play for their lives if they were to have any chance of competing against the side which defeated the world champion Wallabies in the sensational Tri-Nations opener at Stadium Australia.

Flying winger Breyton Paulse also revealed that he was mentally bracing himself to face the challenge of the mighty Jonah Lomu.
