Wilson gets an early chance to show his paces for Auckland

New Zealand sevens star Justin Wilson gets his first chance to play in Auckland colours since his recent move from Bay of Plenty when he appears in the Northern Regional Sevens tournament on 28 October.

Wilson was a leading member of the New Zealand sevens squad that won the inaugural World Series earlier in the year before starring in the Bay of Plenty's NPC Division Two championship winning side.Along with fellow Bay and sevens star Craig de Goldi he was then snapped up by Auckland for the 2001 season. Ironically , the sevens tournament at the end of the month takes place in Tauranga, the scene of the Bay's final against Nelson Bays last Saturday.

Also in the Auckland sevens squad are the Blues' Fijian Super 12 centre Iliesa Tanivula and New Zealand sevens player Amasio Valence.
