Kiwi shut out opens way for fourth Aussie side
Super 12, Australia

Outgoing Wallabies coach Rod Macqueen has claimed that New Zealand can no longer stand in the way of a fourth Australian team in the Super 12 series.

No New Zealand teams reached this year's play-offs - for the first time since the competition started in 1996 - while ACT Brumbies and Queensland will contest one of Saturday's two semi-finals.

Australia have always had South Africa's support for an extra team to join Queensland, New South Wales and the ACT but New Zealand have prevented expansion of the southern hemisphere tournament.

``It's a good indication now that we deserve a fourth team,'' said Macqueen. ``We have now got two teams in the semis and they haven't got any in.''
