Jacobs thanks Umaga for his help

Bulls back Adrian Jacobs has thanked All Black star Tana Umaga for giving him the confidence to do well in the Super 12 series.

Jacobs had a good debut season and was included in the Springbok training camp in Plettenberg Bay from May 29 to June 9. Jacobs played his first Super 12 game against the Hurricanes in Wellington in March.

"It was hell making my Super 12 debut against an All Black superstar in Umaga. I couldn't sleep the night before the match," he told the Cape Times.

"Then I just went out and concentrated as best as I could. We spent most of the game defending and hardly ever got the ball on attack," he said.

"It was after the game, though, that Umaga came over to congratulate me. He said: 'Well done. You're going to be a great player.

"Hearing those words from such a great player made all the difference. It was an instant boost to my confidence and a big factor in my going on to score four tries in the competition."
