Paul in late injury scare for Brumbies
May 17, 2001

Wallaby and Brumbies hooker Jeremy Paul has suffered a hamstring injury at training putting him in doubt for Saturday's Super 12 semi-final against the Reds in Canberra.

Tom Murphy and Adam Freier were placed on stand-by after Paul sustained the injury at training on Wednesday night. He will be given until Saturday morning to prove his fitness.

However, Paul was confident he would be fit to meet great rival Michael Foley.

"I've got a lot of faith in the medical staff and I'm sure that if it wasn't probably a semi final this weekend it (the hamstring) could probably do with the rest," Paul said. "It could be our last game so I'm pretty confident of playing.

"I'm lucky in my position I don't really need a hamstring, it's more the backs that use their hamstrings. That's why I'm still a bit confused why I got the injury. I sort of said to Eddie last night I wouldn't even know what a hamstring injury feels like.

"All I know is I pulled up sore yesterday and the physio said this is what usually happens to backs."
