Wellington expects sell out for French test

Tickets for the New Zealand v France test match in Wellington on Saturday 30
June will go on sale at Ticketek outlets throughout New Zealand on Friday 1 June.

A total of 6,000 tickets will be available for the test match, including
2,000 temporary seats.

Wellington Rugby Chief Executive Malcolm Holmes said on Friday there is already significant interest in the match and the tickets are expected to sell extremely quickly on June 1.

"When you consider the fact that the 2,000 tickets available for last year's
match sold out in 20 minutes, together with the large volume of ticket
enquiries we've been fielding from all over the world, people would be well
advised to act fast on June 1.

"The All Blacks' recent matches against the French, combined with the
popularity of the stadium as a rugby venue, suggest this match will be
hugely popular," he said.

The last time the French were in Wellington, two years ago, they were given a 54-7 beating , but a lot of water has passed under the bridge since then. Just five months later they dumped the All Blacks out of the World Cup after a memorable second half comeback in one of the Twickenham semi finals. In November , 2000, the two sides played out a drawn two-match series. The All Blacks were too good in Paris but came badly unstuck a week later in Marseille.Although the French enjoyed a mediocre Six Nations in 2001 , they always seem to reserve their best form for the New Zealanders and Wayne Smith's All Blacks will be only too well aware of this.

Ticket prices are the same as for last year's test match, a memorable Bledisloe Cup match won by John Eales' last minute penalty, and range from $50
for a temporary seat, through to $100 for a covered seat in the silver area.
In addition, up to 500 temporary seats will be available for children this
year, at a cost of $30 each.

Sales of tickets are limited to six per customer to help ensure that they go
to a range of fans.

Tickets go on sale at 9:00am on Friday 1 June and can be purchased by either
visiting Ticketek outlets around the country, phoning Ticketek, or visiting
their web site - www.ticketek.co.nz

30 June promises to be a bumper night of rugby, with the Wallabies and Lions lining up for the first test across the Tasman in Brisbane.

The kick off time for the Wellington test has been brought forward from 7.35pm to 7:00pm.
