The revolving door was in full swing at Bristol today as head coach Dean Ryan continued to reshape his side with the signing of former Super 12 star Matt Carrington.

Former Otago Highlanders full-back Carrington joined up with other recent recruits Jason Little, a World Cup winner with Australia, and England Under-21 internationals Andrew Higgins and Philip Christophers.

But Scottish international Jamie Mayer moved in the opposite direction, the experienced centre released after deciding not to take up a new contract.

Auckland-born Carrington, 24, is an accomplished kicker who can play either wing or full-back and he recently represented England in the Sevens Tournament in Cardiff.

Ryan said: ``He is a very talented player who made his debut in the Super 12 as a 21-year-old, so that speaks for his quality. He'll give us some extra flexibility in the backline which is important over a long season.

``We originally offered Jamie Mayer a new contract but it wasn't taken up so we've gone in a different direction and are aiming to develop some young English talent working alongside Jason Little.''
