Lomu tattooes his position
June 18, 2001

All Black star winger Jonah Lomu has made it indelibly clear he will not play anywhere but the wing.

Hes had "11" tattooed to the left side of his chest following on from the
trademark "11" etched into an eyebrow.

"It's a follow-on to a number of things," Lomu's manager Phil
Kingsley-Jones said Monday

"No 11 Management is the name of our company, and No 11 is his private
logo, and he's still got some more to do with it coming up.

"And he's got his private website selling Jonah Lomu gear, where the No 11 is prominent."

Meanwhile, Kingsley-Jones was scathing of the All Blacks management decision to leave Lomu out of Saturday's Test against Samoa, which New Zealand
won 50-6.

"No other country would have a player of Jonah's quality playing club rugby
the day a Test match is being played.

"It's all this rubbish about trying people out. The Australians are not
trying people out, the South Africans aren't."

Kingsley-Jones was angry at suggestions Lomu was left out of the Test squad
after going to Britain to play two matches for the Barbarians and promote
apples.

"We were quite within our rights to play for the Barbarians,"
Kingsley-Jones said.

Lomu, whose contract comes up for renegotiation with the New Zealand Rugby Football Union in November, has been named in New Zealand's 24-man squad for the one-off Test with Argentina in Christchurch on Saturday.
