Bryan Williams returns to Auckland rugby roots

Auckland rugby centurion and former Hurricanes assistant coach Bryan
Williams has returned to Auckland to take up a position with Auckland Rugby
Football Union.

In his new role, Williams will be technical adviser to the Auckland NPC
Development team, coached by Mark Anscombe, and will work closely as a
mentor to the other elite coaches with the Colts and Under 19 teams. He
will also work alongside the ARFU's High Performance Manager, Tony Hanks,
to develop and refine talent identification and Rugby Academy programmes.

Other areas of responsibility for Williams include:

· Developing a structure and process that would ensure increased participation of Polynesian administrators in the Auckland Rugby Football Union

· Working with Auckland rugby clubs to facilitate a closer link with
secondary schools.

Williams recently stood down from his position with the Hurricanes,as assistant coach to Graham Mourie,
expressing a desire to spend more time in his home city of Auckland.

He will bring to his new role a vast amount of experience as a
representative coach and world-class player. As well as his Super 12
experience,Williams is also a former coach of Manu Samoa. During his 13
years with Auckland as a player he notched up 131 games.
