Cullen brace seals Wellington win

Two tries from resurgent All Black Christian Cullen got Wellington's NPC campaign back on track as they triumphed 35-17 over Taranaki.

The reigning champions bounced back from a shock defeat against Bay of PLenty last time out to record a comfortable victory at New Plymouth. Cullen, who has been recovering from surgery, scored atry in each half to signal his return to top flight rugby.

Daryl Lilley and David Holwell traded penalties before Taranaki were reckless in defence behind their own line and an attempted clearance by Lilley was pounced upon by Holwell for an easy try. Cullen added to Wellington's tally shortly before half-time after some good work from Filo Tiatia and Fa'atua to take the Lions into the break 25-9 to the better.

In the second half another penalty form Lilley and a try from Mepi Faoagali reduced the arrears, but Cullen slammed the door shut with his second score. Holwell added one more penalty before the end to finish with a persoinal tally of 20 points.
