August 22, 2001

Tickets for the final Bledisloe Cup clash between the Wallabies and the All Blacks at Stadium Australia on September 1 sold out in just over 40 minutes this morning.

Twenty thousand tickets went to public sale, a record for a Bledisloe Cup in the professional era, and they were quickly snapped up.

The game is also the final appearance in Wallaby colours of John Eales, the Australian captain.

The ground capacity is at 91,000 for the game, which the Wallabies must win to retain the Tri-Nations Trophy.

Australia has already secured the Bledisloe Cup, following its win over the All Blacks in Dunedin on August 11.
