Cribb out of All Blacks tour
October 17, 2001

All Blacks No 8 Ron Cribb has pulled out of of consideration for the All Blacks end-of-year rugby tour to Ireland, Scotland and Argentina on medical advice.

Cribb, 25, is still hobbling after exploratory surgery last week on the knee injuries that have kept him sidelined from North Harbour's NPC first division campaign.

The therapeutic treatment he has been receiving for his knee since the conclusion of the Tri-Nations series has not cured his troubled leg, and he is to undergo a structured rehabilitation programme over the next six weeks.

The All Blacks' doctor, John Mayhew, said that while Cribb (pictured) is disappointed, he accepts the recommended course of action to deal with the problem, which has hampered him for some time.

The fiery loose-forward will recover in time for the start of the 2002 Super 12 competition.

Cribb's North Harbour team-mate and fellow test forward Troy Flavell has also been sidelined, by a knee injury, and will miss the tour to Ireland, Scotland and Argentina next month and in December.

The team will be named on November 4.
