Lomu has some unfinished business
October 25, 2001

All Black giant Jonah Lomu has revealed that the reason he re-signed with the NZRFU was because he has some 'unfinshed business' regarding the World Cup.

Lomu, who has been caped 62 times by the All Blacks, has set his sights on the world crown in 2003.

"I have got that (signing) off my chest and now I want to try and get myself ready for the end of year tour if I get selected," Lomu told Radio Sport. "I don't want to sit back in 20 years time and say I could have done this or done that with the All Blacks.

"I'm a person who doesn't like leaving things unfinished. There's still a World Cup around and I'd like to have another shot at it. I still have unfinished business with the All Blacks and hopefully if I get selected I can fulfil that unfinished business."

"I enjoy playing for this country and representing them at the highest level in rugby," he said.

Elsewhere, Waikato rugby lock Mark Cooksley has been given a conditional clearance from an Auckland specialist to make himself available for the end-of-year All Blacks tour.

Cooksley was carried from the field at Jade Stadium in Christchurch last Saturday on a stretcher with his neck in a brace after having his head bent awkwardly in a ruck and suffering tingling sensations in his arm.
