3-WEEK BAN FOR ARCHER
:: Garath Archer has been handed a three-week ban by a Rugby Football Union disciplinary panel after being sent off in Bristol's game against Gloucester.
The former England second row has also been fined by the cvlub after an internal disciplinary hearing conducted by coach Dean Ryan and managing director Jack Rowell.
"We have made Garath v ery aware that, even though he has shown a huge amount of remorse, both to the club and to the rest of the squad it doesn't take away the crime," said Ryan.
The second row was sent off 30 minutes into the game on November 10 for punching Gloucester prop Trevor Woodman.
Archer said: "It is my first offence of this kind for which I have had to appear before a disciplinary panel and they took that into account when they imposed a 21-day ban. It's embarrassing and I should have known better. I'm quite ashamed of myself and I'm sorry for the effect on my team mates and the fans."

KIWI COACH HEADS FOR SAINTS
:: Former All Blacks coach Wayne Smith is heading for England to finalise details of a deal that will see him join the coaching staff at struggling Northampton.
The Saints, who are having a miserable time in the Zurich Premiership this season, are expected to confirm Smith's appointment as first-team coach on Monday.
Steele said: "Wayne Smith has committed himself to Northampton Saints and I am delighted that we have been able to attract someone of his calibre to the club."
Smith began his coaching career at Casale Sul Sile in Italy followed by stints at Canterbury, Benetton and Canterbury Crusaders.
