Andrew Hore is anticipating a scrap for the All Blacks' No.2 jersey on their forthcoming November tour.

The Hurricanes hooker is set to resume contact work this week after a five-month lay-off due to a dislocated shoulder and will likely meet up with the All Blacks in London prior to their November 6 meeting with England.

Hore has been named alongside the in-form Keven Mealamu and uncapped Hika Elliot in the squad and is hoping to get some valuable game-time under his belt for Taranaki should they progress to the ITM Cup finals.

While he is taking steps towards a return the national team will be in Hong Kong for a Bledisloe Cup showdown with the Wallabies on October 30.

"The All Blacks meet on Thursday and fly out to Hong Kong on Saturday," he told The Taranaki Daily News. "I'll stay around and if we make the semi-finals will play. I'll then join the All Blacks in London.

"I'm not getting any younger and don't want to miss any more games. I'll probably start third hooker on tour and I will have to push my way back in."

Hore was the All Blacks' go-to-guy prior to his injury and admitted that he had endured a frustrating time away from the game.

"I've just been playing a waiting game," he said. "I was up with Taranaki last week but came back to Christchurch at the weekend. I'm back in New Plymouth on Monday. Coops [Taranaki coach Colin Cooper] has let me train with the team. I've joined them on light runs and done some lineout work. I'll pretty much start contact work this week."
