Ulster have appointed Allen Clarke as their new forwards coach.

Clarke, who won eight caps for Ireland, was part of the Ulster side that won the Heineken Cup in 1999. He was assistant coach to Mark McCall for their 2006 Celtic League title win and was high performance manager at the IRFU for five years from 2007 through to 2012.

He returned to Ulster in 2012 as elite performance manager and will oversee the province's academy and their elite performance pathway alongside his role in charge of the forwards.

"I'm immensely passionate and proud to be involved with my home province once again, and look forward to supporting the coaching team and players to be the best we can be," Clarke said. "The player movement in the pack has been well documented; however, the players that we have brought in together with those already here have shown a real focus in training and respect for work."
