Britain's Mo Farah admits he is fearful of getting injured in the lead-up to London 2012, revealing he is considering cutting down his schedule over the next year to avoid burnout.

Farah solidified his position as one of the world's best long-distance runners by outsprinting his rivals to win the 5000m at the World Athletics Championships in South Korea earlier this month, having picked up a silver medal in the 10,000m a few days before.

The 28-year-old, who relocated to Oregon in March in order to be coached full-time by Alberto Salazar, is one of Britain's main gold medal hopes for next year's Olympics and he admits he may have to tailor his racing programme to arrive in London in peak condition.

"I'm only having two weeks off completely," he told Sky Sports News. "Then I'll start off jogging slowly and get back into it. I haven't had a chat with my coach, I'll sit down with my coach and my agent and plan the year ahead.

"As an athlete, I don't want to do too much, I want to pick my races and get it right because it's a big year. Mainly I want to try and stay injury free, stay focused, keep my feet on the ground and keep doing what I'm doing because that's working."
