Don't chase four golds, Johnson warns Bolt
Michael Johnson has warned Usain Bolt that his quest to win four gold medals at London 2012 could prove costly.
The triple Olympic champion has expressed his desire to add the 4x400m relay to the 100m, 200m and 4x100m medals he won in Beijing.
No athlete has won four gold medals since Carl Lewis at the 1984 Los Angeles Games, and Johnson, who was the first man to win the 200-400 double in Atlanta, has warned Bolt that the extra event could harm his medal quest.
"I see no reason why he shouldn't be able to repeat as an Olympic gold medallist in the 100, 200 and the 4x100," he said.
"But you can't train for the 400m as well. It would be an absolute distraction and the training wouldn't work."
