Dwain Chambers has commenced his preparations for London 2012, even though it will be two months before he learns whether or not he will be able to compete at the Games.

Shamed sprinter Chambers, who received a two-year suspension in 2003 after testing positive for a banned substance, is waiting to discover if the Court of Arbitration for Sport will rule that the British Olympic Association's lifetime ban on drugs offenders is illegal. And ahead of that verdict, he is leaving nothing to chance.

"I still have to prepare," he said. "If the door opens, then at least I'll be prepared. If it doesn't happen, then I'll still have to go out there and salvage the rest of my season as best as I can."

He proved he is not lacking for a pace by winning the men's 60 metres at the UK Trials & Championships over the weekend, clocking a season's best time of 6.58 seconds.
