Nathan Robertson admits he is sweating over whether he will make the cut for London 2012, the veteran of three Games worried he may miss the chance for "that perfect ending to my career".

The 34-year-old won Olympic silver in 2004 and World Championship gold in 2006 with Gail Emms, and the Brit is desperate to add to his medal haul with gold this summer.

However, Robertson - now partnering Jenny Wallwork - is searching for form at just the wrong time and, coupled with the emergence of mixed doubles rivals Chris Adcock and Imogen Bankier, he is all too aware his farewell dream is hanging in the balance.

"All focus is on London, trying to attain that perfect ending to my career," he was quoted by the Sun. "But it's going to be tough. If I don't make it, it will be a huge disappointment right at the end of my career.

"I'm sure when I look back it will be with incredible memories, having achieved everything I wanted from the game - except that Olympic gold."

Only one Olympic spot is up for grabs, with the place being awarded to the pair who are ranked highest in the world on May 3. It was not looking good for Robertson and Wallwork after they fell to 22nd last week, before boosting their chances by winning at the Polish International on Sunday. In the last rankings, they were 10 places adrift of Adcock and Bankier, and Robertson knows the pressure is on to hit top form.

"It's tough at the moment after a mid-season blip when the stress of qualifying played its part," he said. "I'm sure it was the Olympic pressures which caused the blip.

"You know you're competing for a place and there are so few available. Plus the expectation you put on yourself. But, on the other hand, there are a lot of people who would gladly exchange with me and be on the edge of qualifying for London."
