Sir Chris Hoy is more determined than ever for success at London 2012 after his up-and-down week in Melbourne at the Track World Championships.

Hoy grabbed gold in the keirin on Sunday, one day after the disappointment of being defeated by compatriot Jason Kenny in the semi-finals of the sprint competition.

Hoy has beaten Kenny three times in five recent encounters - but only one man can represent Team GB in the sprint at London 2012, and Kenny's most recent victory could put him in pole position.

"This week has been a kick up the backside and it makes you determined to go into London with all guns blazing," Hoy said. "There is a massive goal on the horizon and the next time I'm racing will be at the Olympics.

"I don't have a plan beyond that - the one thing I know is after London I'm going to take a break for a couple of months."
