Olympic medal hope Myroslav Dykun has been been suspended by British Wrestling after failing a drugs test.

The Greco-Roman wrestler, who won Commonwealth gold for England in 2010, faces a two-year ban after testing positive for amphetamines.

Ukrainian-born Dykun, who achieved British citizenship five years ago after he married a former British wrestler, is suspended pending the outcome of a second test on the B sample and a disciplinary hearing.

"I can confirm that he has failed his A sample. The drug was amphetamines," Colin Nicholson, British Wrestling's chief executive said.

"He is immediately suspended from competition and funding. Under no circumstances do we condone drug-taking in any form - whether it be recreational or performance-enhancing.

"British Wrestling will not tolerate such behaviour from anyone. This is evidence that we are determined to work in partnership to root out anyone misusing substances."

Dykun, who missed recent Olympic qualifying events in Bulgaria and China, has been left out of the squad for the final qualifier in Finland this week.

The British Wrestling selection panel will meet on May 10 and forward its nominations to the British Olympic Association before the June 1 deadline.
