Usain Bolt, Yohan Blake and Asafa Powell all safely navigated their way through the first 100 metres heats at the Jamaican Olympic trials.

Blake recorded the quickest time of the three, running 10.00 seconds, while defending Olympic champion Bolt posted a time of 10.06 and Powell clocked 10.19.

All three men held something back on a muggy night at the National Stadium ahead of the greater challenges to come.

"It's a heat so I just wanted to take it quite easy, tomorrow is the semi-finals so I'm saving it," Powell said. "I wasn't really working on anything, I just wanted to start easy and finish easy. Tomorrow it is going to be very hot, I'm just going to come out hot."

The semi-finals and final will both take place on Friday in Kingston, with the top three in the latter booking a spot at London 2012.
