Hoy cruises in keirin

Sir Chris Hoy made short work of his rivals as he eased into the second round of the men's keirin.
Hoy is bidding to win his sixth Olympic gold medal and he looked on excellent terms as he moved into the later stages. He sat in the middle of the pack as the derney made its way round the track, before powering to the front with two laps remaining and surging clear for victory in a time of 10.177 seconds.
Hoy will return to the track later on Tuesday for the semi-finals and, hopefully, the gold medal final.
In the omnium, Laura Trott lost ground on Sarah Hammer when beaten by her rival in the 3000m pursuit.
Hammer led all the way and posted a time of 3:29.554, a second ahead of Trott. And ahead of the final two events, the scratch race and time trial, Hammer leads Trott by one point. The pair are clear of Tara Whitten and may have the gold between them.
